Grant school district sues county office to get buyout funds

May 7th, 2008

Looks like we’re getting some action on this.

Go get ‘em Papa John. According to the article “…The first hearing in the case is scheduled at 9 a.m. June 27 in Department 33 of Sacramento Superior Court.” Why do I have a feeling that some Hicks, Gholson, and Raymond, and Stone women may be in attendance?! Erik and I will be waiting in the wings with bail money ;-)

Dr. Randy Pausch – The Last Lecture

April 16th, 2008

Take 10 minutes and watch this video of Dr. Randy Pausch. You’ll be glad, humbled, and inspired afterwards.

I know I’m going make an honest effort to adhere to the simple principles he mentions.

Be good.

A New Chapter

March 27th, 2008

So here I sit at my desk at HP for probably the last time.

It’s been about 10 years total that I’ve been associated with this company so this transition is somewhat bittersweet.

I’ve done everything from unix system admin, project/program management, QA engineering and IT consulting here. It’s been a pretty good ride for the most part (except when I got laid off a few years ago, but I won’t go into that right now…)

Starting Monday I embark on a new journey as a Solutions Engineer at Raging Wire Enterprise Solutions. This will put me back in the middle of everything for sure. No more lunch time trips back home to play Wii and watch Judge Joe Brown. But, that’s good. I like the hustle of being in front of customers, driving towards a solution that works and working more with a team, instead of just by myself in a cubicle.

So, wish me luck, keep me and my family in your prayers. This could either be the worst or one of the best career decisions I’ve made, but I’m comfortable with the decision and look forward to the new challenge.

Hello World!

March 20th, 2007

Yes I’ve moved the Hicks Family website yet again. Hey, times are hard and if I can save $100 I’m going to do it.So yes, we are no longer on the Apple .Mac service which will make posting of some of the videos and pictures a bit “tricky”, but the content will continue to flow without any hiccup (I hope). Who knows….knowing me, I may decided in a month or so to go back to the .Mac services.Hold on to your hats and hang onĀ
